Keeping Up in Copley Sq.
http://backbaysun.com/2011/11/08/shaping-copley-square/
Copley Square is always changing, appearing modern and trendy sometimes or historic and preserved at others.
Scooterdude is always eager to discover what might be planned for the space. As usual, some plans are for the better while other plans may seem ill-conceived. In any case, it will remain a special space, a familiar place, and a sacred vacinity for the Ol Scoot.

"Wind-Scooter-Mind"
Bright sun,
Smile on each face, wonder!
Wonder!
Wind-ride,
"Why is there a hole in your sail?"
"It keeps the sail full!"
(Wonderful day yesterday, and glad to see all of my scooterdudecopleysquare friends!)

According to the current weather forecast concerning Hurricane Irene, the rain fall may end in the early afternoon but strong winds will continue. Optimum conditions (gusts of 40mph! perfect for the wind-scooter!)Scoot' will be checking again at around 2pm. Perhaps, this could be THE RIDE of the century for wind-scooting. See you out there if it's dry enough.

New Date for International Wind-Scooter Regatta?!
There's a nice wind forecast for today. With the streets around Copley Sq. closed for the Marathon on Monday, and with thousands of visiting tourists and athletes roaming the area in anticipation of the race, could it be that the Saturday before the Marathon offers the best opportunity for a Wind-Scooter race? This could be the chance ol 'Scoot's been waiting for!Look for him this afternoon in Copley Sq. along Boylston Street or wherever the wind is best.

Regatta - "Wind-Heaven! 2011" Cancelled
Due to lack of funding and the removal of some corporate sponsors, we sadly announce the cancellation of this year's Wind-Scooter Regatta. We learned that a few of the registered athletes have tested positive for enhancement drugs and have been disqualified. Also, Scooterdude is in hiatus as Piccolo Pup is requiring more attention at home. We apologize in this advance notice that this is a loss for the city. We look forward to the possibility of a 2012 Regatta.

Strong Winds for First Preliminary Trials - "Wind-Heaven! 20011"
The incredibly bitter cold added to the challenge of getting back onto the urban-surf.
"Thrilling!"
"Ecstatic!"
"Fantastic Ride!" were a few of the comments. It amazed everyone that despite the dirt white residue of months' snow with some gravel sand and salt there were excellent conditions for practice before next month's big event.
Surveying possible routes for the Regatta was Scooterdude and a few supporters. Depending on wind direction, the preferred routes include either Stuart Street (from Dartmouth St. to Berkeley St.) or Boylston Street (from Clarendon St. to Arlington St.). Cross-streets and direction would also be determined upon weather conditions.
Corporate sponsors to date:
Poof-Puff Wind-breakers
Oggle Goggles
Jet-Stream Xtreme Sports (apparel, nutrition, attitude!)

The Winter Season of Wind-Scootering Commences
Due to heavy demands personally and crowded schedule, it was an entirely thrilling opportunity for Scooterdude to out again riding the waves yesterday.
Cold?
Yes.
Tight afternoon schedule again?
Yes.
Wind?
Fantastic! It was a reminder that some of the best rides are in the worst Winter months, with a steady wind and relatively clear streets. (The real problem this time of year is the sand and salt which collects in the plaza in front of Trinity Church and around some areas of the streets. It forces me to route around these dangerous patches.)
